145 words

In the novel 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens, the main character, Pip, has many dreams and ambitions. He wants to be a gentleman and change his life. Pip starts as a poor boy who helps his sister and her husband in their home. One day, he meets an escaped convict named Magwitch. Later, Pip finds out that Magwitch wants to help him become a gentleman. This makes Pip very excited. At the same time, Pip learns that being rich does not always bring happiness. He has to decide what is more important: wealth or love. Pip's ambition leads him to new experiences, but it also brings difficulties. By the end of the story, Pip understands that true happiness comes from good relationships, not just money. 'Great Expectations' teaches us that ambition is important, but it should not take away from what really matters in life.
