Tess is a young woman who has a difficult life. She faces many challenges and tragedies that seem to be out of her control. This is called fate. Fate is when events happen because of destiny, and people cannot change them. Tess is born into a poor family. One day, her family finds out they are related to a rich family called the d’Urbervilles. Tess's mother wants her to meet them. Tess goes to work for Mr. Alec d’Urberville. He is not kind to Tess, and she has many problems because of him. Later, Tess meets Angel Clare, a good man who likes her. But fate brings more problems for Tess. She faces difficult choices about her life. The story shows how fate can change a person's life, and how sometimes, people cannot escape their destiny.
